RGVCASA GOLF TOURNAMENT 11/10/17
Dear Community Members,
Rio Grande Valley CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will host a fundraising golf tournament on November 10, 2017 at Sierra Del Rio Golf Course, where a silent auction and car auction will also take place. Proceeds from this event will benefit the 7th Judicial District’s CASA program.
The CASA Golf Tournament provides ample opportunities to support this vital community program. Local businesses may sponsor one or more of the course’s 18 holes. Sponsors names will appear on signs /flags placed at the hole they are sponsoring. There are just 18 of these special sponsorship spots available, and they will be sold on a first come/first serve basis. The cost of sponsoring a hole is $150.
Donated items will be collected in the weeks ahead for the silent auction. Businesses and individuals are welcomed and encouraged to contact us to arrange pickup or drop off of items. We expect to draw many locals as well as many visitors from beyond Sierra County. Like those held in the past, the upcoming golf tournament promises to provide a fantastic opportunity for businesses to promote themselves. Contact Destiny Mitchell, Sierra County’s CASA Coordinator, for ideas on creating promotional gift certificates and/or coupons, etc.
We look forward to another great turnout from our valued locals. Lunch will be offered to the players by the Smoking Turtle Restaurant, and additional tickets will be sold at $20 each.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the District Court to advocate for youth involved in CYFD court cases. They serve as the eyes and ears of the Judge and are a powerful voice in a child’s life. Most of CASA’s involvement in these cases is voluntary, however the program itself requires funding to assist with training, coordinator/director salaries, office rent and supplies, and general operational costs.
CASA is a vital program for the youth in our communities. CASA volunteers get to know these children, and help them to feel protected and represented in ways that lawyers and case workers aren’t always able to accomplish. We match volunteers one-on-one with children, and each volunteer stays with that child throughout the entire court proceeding, which can sometimes last up to two years. Our volunteers do an amazing job, and can be lifeline to a child in a difficult time and situation. Community support is just as integral for the CASA program to continue.
